Backend Engineer – Real-Time Systems

Do you want to build backend software that runs inside real products, where performance, timing, and system behaviour really matter?

This opportunity is with a European technology company that designs and manufactures high-end professional hardware systems combining real-time processing, networking, and intuitive control interfaces. Their products are used worldwide in demanding environments such as live events, broadcast, corporate presentation, and control rooms, where reliability and responsiveness are critical.

What you will do:

• Design and develop backend services using modern web technologies
• Build and maintain real-time communication and synchronisation layers (WebSockets, event-driven architectures)
• Work on systems where performance, concurrency, and robustness are critical
• Ensure software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
• Actively use AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor) to accelerate development while reviewing and validating generated code
• Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvement of development practices

Key skills required:

• Strong experience as a backend developer (Typescript)
• Experience with real-time client/server systems (WebSockets, event-driven or streaming architectures)
• Good understanding of performance, concurrency, and system optimisation
• Experience using AI tools in development workflows and ability to review and adapt generated code
• Experience working with messaging systems (Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ or similar) is a plus
