Sustainability Operations Lead | Biofuels & Regulatory Assurance

• Hybrid model – 4 days per week on-site, 1 day wfh
• Up to €100,000 package (incl. holiday allowance and 13th month)

• Full-time contract (12 months initially, then permanent contract)

5V Tech are working with a major European energy business operating across conventional fuels, trading, and rapidly expanding renewable fuels and sustainability operations. They are now actively looking for a Sustainability Assurance Lead to take ownership of a critical function sitting right at the heart of biofuels, trading, and regulatory compliance.

This is not an ESG strategy role. This is a hands-on, operational leadership position where accuracy, control, and regulatory depth genuinely matter every single day. This is the role for someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment where priorities shift with regulatory change and trading activity.

You’ll lead a mid-size team responsible for sustainability reporting, compliance, and assurance across multiple European markets, ensuring everything from mass balance calculations to GHG reporting and certification holds up under strict regulatory scrutiny.

You’ll also act as the key link between sustainability operations, trading, legal, and supply chain teams, translating fast-moving regulatory change into clear operational execution.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading a team of Sustainability Analysts and operational staff

• Owning biofuel mass balance, GHG calculations, and sustainability reporting

• Ensuring compliance with ISCC EU, RED II / RED III and related frameworks

• Overseeing audit readiness and regulatory submissions

• Acting as final internal reviewer for all sustainability outputs

• Working closely with trading, operations, finance, and legal teams

• Driving improvements in systems, controls, and processes

Requirements:

• 7+ years in biofuels, renewable fuels, trading, or sustainability compliance

• Strong hands-on experience with RED II/III, ISCC EU, mass balance, GHG reporting

• Background in oil & gas, fuel trading, or renewable fuels strongly preferred

• Previous team leadership experience

• Comfortable operating in high-accuracy, high-accountability environments

• Fluent Dutch and English
