Our partnership with Yasser Alsaied

We are honored to announce our new strategic partner, with Yasser Alsaied, former Vice President of IoT at Amazon Web Services (AWS), alongside SAS Arabia, as we expand our deep-tech talent operations across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

This partnership represents an important step in our international growth and strengthens our ability to support organisations across the region that are building advanced engineering teams spanning IoT, AI, semiconductors and next-generation digital infrastructure.

Since our journey began in 2016, we have worked closely with our partners to scale specialist engineering teams across the UK, Europe and the USA. Today, operating from offices in Tampa, Bristol, Amsterdam and Munich, we continue to build deep, market-specific expertise across the full technology lifecycle - from chip design and embedded systems through to cloud and edge architectures - supporting organisations developing technologies that are shaping the future.

A Career That Has Shaped the IoT Landscape

Over more than three decades, Yasser Alsaied has played a central role in the evolution of global technology — spanning IoT, AI, semiconductors, telecommunications and cloud platforms. Most recently, as Vice President of IoT at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Yasser helped shape AWS’s global IoT strategy, working with governments and enterprises worldwide to deliver connected-device platforms, edge intelligence solutions and sovereign cloud initiatives. His work across the MENA region supported some of the most complex and strategically important digital transformation programmes currently underway.

Prior to AWS, Yasser spent 14 years at Qualcomm as Vice President of IoT, where he helped build and scale chipset ecosystems that enabled the rise of smartphones and today’s IoT devices. These platforms continue to power billions of connected devices globally. Today, Yasser serves as President and Co-Founder of Facilis.ai and as Senior Executive Partner at SAS Arabia, advising organisations on AI adoption, digital sovereignty and cross-border technology partnerships.

Why This Matters for 5V Tech - and for the Region

The Middle East and North Africa is emerging as one of the world’s most important regions for deep-tech investment. From connected infrastructure and edge AI to advanced semiconductors and sovereign cloud, organisations across the region are building technologies that will define the next decade. Partnering with Yasser brings unparalleled global insight and regional experience into how we support these organisations.
His leadership strengthens our ability to help clients not just hire talent, but build long-term engineering capability aligned to national and commercial objectives.

This collaboration represents a step-change in how we operate in the region, combining our deep expertise in scaling specialist engineering teams with Yasser’s experience delivering technology at global scale.

Building World-Class Capability Across MENA

Working together, our focus is on supporting organisations across MENA to:

  • Build world-class engineering and AI capability
  • Develop sustainable talent pipelines across IoT, embedded systems, cloud and semiconductors
  • Align technical hiring strategies with national digital-transformation agendas
  • Strengthen and support emerging innovation ecosystems across the region

This partnership reflects our belief that people are the foundation of innovation, and that building the right teams is critical to delivering long-term impact.

Leadership Perspective

Our Founder & CEO Tom White commented: “Yasser is one of the most respected global leaders in IoT and connected technologies. Having him work alongside 5V Tech is a significant moment for our business. His experience, combined with our capability in building specialist engineering teams, positions us strongly to support organisations delivering some of the most ambitious technology programmes in the MENA region.”

Yasser Alsaied added: "There is tremendous momentum across the region, and the need for specialised engineering talent is only growing. 5V Tech’s depth of knowledge in deep-tech recruitment makes them a strong partner for organisations looking to build long-term capability.”

Continuing the Conversation

To mark this collaboration, Tom White and Yasser Alsaied recently recorded a special episode of The IoT Podcast, produced by 5V Tech and 5V Media, discussing regional innovation, engineering capability and the future of connected technologies. Listen to the episode: Here
