NPI Project Buyer - Smart Home & HVAC
- Eindhoven, Netherlands
- Up to €70 000 excluding holiday allowance and 13th month
- Hybrid work model - 3 days a week in the office
- Permanent, full-time contract (Standard Dutch model - 12 months initial FTC, then transferred to Permanent contract)
A growing Dutch technology company in the smart home space is hiring a Project Buyer (NPI) to sit directly within their R&D environment, playing a critical role in bringing new products to market.
This is not a traditional procurement role. You will operate at the intersection of engineering and supply chain, owning sourcing strategy from early-stage product development through to production, with a high degree of autonomy.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking company where your work directly influences product outcomes.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the dedicated NPI buyer within R&D, supporting multiple product development projects
- Driving component-level sourcing (e.g. SoCs, MCUs, ICs, resistors, transformers) from early design stages
- Collaborating closely with hardware engineers and architects to influence component selection and design decisions
- Challenging technical choices needed to optimise cost, availability, and manufacturability
- Identifying and engaging the right suppliers globally, building strong early-stage partnerships
- Managing sample orders, tooling, and supporting phase-in/phase-out planning
- Owning purchasing-related risk mitigation across NPI projects
- Contributing to cost optimisation and standardisation initiatives across the product portfolio
What we're looking for:
- Strong experience in a technical buying / NPI procurement role within electronics or semiconductor environments
- Direct experience in sourcing electronic components (chips, ICs, transistors, resistors, sensors, etc.)
- Proven ability to work closely with engineering teams and operate credibly in technical discussions
- Experience sourcing at component level (not just PCBAs or assemblies)
- Ability to operate autonomously and to take ownership of projects and driving them forward independently from the start
- Strong stakeholder management skills across R&D, supply chain, and external suppliers
- Familiarity with ERP systems, cost modelling, and Total Cost of Ownership principles
