Embedded Software Test Automation Consultant - Freelance / Contracting

• 32-40 hours per week

We’re supporting an innovative electronics scale-up that builds interactive embedded systems used globally in medical tech environments. Their product combines custom hardware, embedded Linux, and application software into a single integrated platform.

They are now looking for a Freelance QA / Test Automation Engineer to build their embedded software test automation capability from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement an automated test framework for embedded Linux systems
• ...using Python and related frameworks
• Use Bash scripting for test execution and device-level interaction
• Execute and validate tests directly on physical embedded devices
• Collaborate closely with embedded software engineers within agile sprints
• Contribute to improving CI/testing pipelines and release reliability

Profile

• Proven experience in automated QA / test engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with Embedded Linux environments and Bash scripting
• Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch using Python
• Comfortable working close to hardware and debugging system-level issues
• Autonomous, proactive, delivery-focused mindset
• Fluent in English
• BONUS...experience with medical devices
