Machine Learning Engineer

Salary: Up to $160,000 pa

We're partnered with an exciting early-stage AI startup building next-generation developer tools for engineering teams working on complex, mission-critical systems.

This is an opportunity to join at an early stage, work directly with decision-makers, and see your work deployed into real-world environments where reliability, accuracy, and performance matter.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you'll design, build, and deploy machine learning systems that power cutting-edge AI products. You'll work across the full ML lifecycle from data collection and experimentation through to production deployment and continuous optimisation.

You'll collaborate closely with software engineers and product stakeholders to create intelligent features that solve meaningful customer problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and services
• Build and optimise transformer-based AI systems using modern ML frameworks
• Develop scalable ML infrastructure and production pipelines
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agent-based AI workflows
• Collect, clean, transform, and analyse large datasets
• Conduct experiments, evaluate model performance, and iterate rapidly
• Monitor and improve production ML systems
• Work closely with engineering teams to integrate AI seamlessly into customer-facing products

Essential Skills & Experience

• 1-3+ years of experience in a Machine Learning Engineer role
• Strong Python development skills
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch
• Experience working with transformer-based architectures and foundation models
• Experience deploying ML services on AWS
• Knowledge of modern AI frameworks including LangChain, RAG pipelines, MCP, agentic workflows, or similar technologies
• Experience building and maintaining production ML systems
