Make homes healthier. Build the tech that makes it happen.
We're working with a market-leading smart home business based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, a company at the forefront of residential ventilation and heating technology.
They're growing their Embedded function and are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a talented, multidisciplinary team.
This is a brilliant opportunity if you want genuine technical impact, short lines of communication, and the chance to shape both product and engineering culture in a company that genuinely invests in its people.
The Role
You'll be embedded (pun intended) within a Scrum team of 6–8 engineers, working across new product development and live product maintenance. This isn't a heads-down coding role, you'll be a senior voice in the room, mentoring colleagues, contributing to company-wide engineering standards, and working directly with architects, product owners, and project leads.
What you'll be doing:
- Defining requirements, designing solutions, writing and reviewing code, and ensuring solid automated test coverage
- Guiding less experienced engineers and raising the bar on code quality across the team
- Supporting system architects on platform improvements
- Collaborating in cross-team focus groups on company-wide technical priorities
- Contributing to processes and standards across a software group of ~25 engineers
- Communicating progress clearly to stakeholders including project and group leads
What They're Looking For
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or Electronics
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience — Dutch high-tech sector experience is a strong plus
- Strong hands-on knowledge of C++, C, and Python (C# is a bonus)
- Solid grasp of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns
- Comfortable with tools like JIRA, Git, GTest/GMock, Pytest, Jenkins/GitLab CI
- Embedded protocols experience: I2C, SPI, UART, Modbus, RF, BLE, microcontrollers
- Familiarity with connectivity tech (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NB-IoT, sub-GHz), IoT/Smart Home, or security is a real advantage
- Experience with heating/ventilation products or battery-powered devices is a bonus
- Agile/Scrum mindset — you're comfortable in fast-moving, collaborative teams
The Person
Beyond the technical skills, they want someone who:
- Takes ownership and holds themselves to a high standard
- Communicates well, with engineers, product owners, and leadership alike
- Is proactive, structured in their thinking, and solutions-focused
- Cares about the end user and advocates for the customer perspective
- Wants to grow and has ambitions beyond their immediate team
